Gerade in lokalen Netzwerken an denen mehrere Benutzer angeschlossen sind ist es von großem Vorteil wenn ausser dem gemeinsamen Internetzugang auch gemeinsame Netzwerk-Ressourcen wie zentral nutzbare Netzwerkspeicher zur Verfügung zu stellen. Wir setzen dazu Netzwerkspeicher, sogenannte NAS (Network attached Storage) ein, die als autarke Server-Systeme am Netzwerk angeschlossen sind und für die Benutzer im Intranet verfügbar sind.

Wir nutzen ausserdem zur verteilten Datenspeicherung Storage Arrays in Kombination mit einem Content Delivery Network (CDN) das aus verschiedenen eigenen und angemieteten Server (SAN) bei verschiedenen Hostern und an verschiedenen Standorten besteht. Somit ist eine Lastverteilung häufig aufgerufener oder grosser Dateien möglich die nicht nur auf einem System referenziert werden. Im Idealfall wirkt das CDN wie ein Load-Balacing-System, das Lastspitzen ausgleicht und gleichzeitige Anfragen auf eine Quelle verteilt.
